Organizations sign a joint statement for a feminist labor justice agenda in a time of crisis
We stand with partners from the International Domestic Workers Federation, Global Labor Justice, and WIEGO – Women in Informal Employment: Globalizing and Organizing to call for a feminist labor justice agenda.
Workers are facing overlapping crises—corporate concentration, democratic erosion, technological disruption, climate change, and rising care demands. These pressures are deepening inequalities rooted in class, caste, race, and gender. At the same time, sharp retrenchments in public and philanthropic funding are weakening movement infrastructure and constraining organizing capacity.
This is a moment to take stock—even as we continue to fight for those most at risk—and to strategize for what comes next.
Horizontes is a multi-regional initiative creating space for that work: stocktaking, sense-making, and strategy—while mobilizing resources to support the actors building a future-ready global movement grounded in democracy, equity, and worker power. We center the voices of workers on the frontlines and advance a feminist labor agenda to address inequality, end violence in the world of work, combat xenophobia and racism, and defend democracy.
Earlier this spring, alongside the Commission on the Status of Women, we convened nearly 100 leaders across trade unions, informal worker organizations, feminist and civil society groups, and philanthropy—online and in person—to do just that.
The statement we’re releasing today reflects that collective work. It outlines key shifts needed now—and calls for deeper alignment, resourcing, and action to strengthen worker power globally.
